Exercise 3: Trip Assignment
Noor Arfa Craft Complex, Terengganu | 9th March 2014
Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter Speed: 1/200
Shutter Speed: 1/200
ISO: 3200
I, Chuah
Tien Ling nickname is Chloe. Chloe did not included on my I/C is because of my
grandparents who are kind of tradition which is why my parents can't include Chloe in my I/C. I was born on 9th
April 1995 at Kota Braru, Kelantan. I am kind of sad because my entire family
were born in Taiping, Perak. In reality I am actually a Kelantanese because I
was born there since my family moved to Kelantan for work. Now, I am a
Taylorian and studying Foundation in Design at Taylor's University Lakeside
Campus. Well, my course-mates and I went to a
batik complex under the name of Noor Arfa at Terengganu for part of our course
work. As I did my research about Noor Arfa, I found that it is actually a
well-known batik producer in Malaysia. The purpose of this trip is
basically for us to try to discover something new (tradition) and to experience the different culture. (But for me, myself, I am
quite used to the situation of traditional lifestyle.)
This photo was taken during the last day of our study trip
at Noor Arfa. This was the last batik that my group did. Basically, I don't
really satisfy with the outcome as it doesn't look like batik to me. Yet, I do
really enjoy the three day trip because we learned a lot of things. Our
instructor taught us about the meaning of batik. Batik defines as crafting
produced with the mixing process and colouring on top of white sheet/cloth.
"Ba" is actually stands for AMBA which mean lines. "Tik" is
actually stands for NITIK which means dots. Batik is actually come from
Kelantan as well by the owner who name HJ CHE SU BIN ISHAK. It started by tie
and dye. And from Kelantan is because of Kelantan is near to Thailand; most of
the cloths are import from Thailand.
The reason why I chose f/5.6 for aperture is because the lower the f/stops, the more
exposure because they represent larger aperture. I was trying to use
the shallow depth of field for getting my background is kind of blur to help me
to bring out my object that I focused. 1/200 for shutter speeds because
she was painting and I want a standard light that allowed entering (Not
too less, not too much). For the ISO 3200 because that time the surrounding of
the place my group for work is not an open place. The sunlight is not strong
enough therefore I used the ISO is quite high. Overall, I this is also the
picture that I like it because all of the combination with the setting I chose,
I brought out the feel.
o, And so, whenever I look at this picture, it automatically recall me back all of the memories, tired, joy, craziness, and fun are back like right I am still in the trip. This photo may seem nothing much to other, yet, it is totally the other way round to me.(Which is why I like it so much)
Last but not least, I hope that we can have the second trip
like this. This is because, for me, I live to outdoor study. We are used to
study in modern lifestyle nowadays. As a designer, I think that we
should interact more with different lifestyle and outdoor things. It
is much better than just look at the lecture and listen to them. It is
much more worked on me, myself!
Feedback:
So basically, I have done everything well in part of this assignment, yet my answer of number D was missing. I really did not notice on this. =/ I will correct it ASAP.
